The Seminoles organization is one of the nation’s most prestigious football clubs with thirteen championships in various semi-professional leagues, and team president Sylvester Jennings made a special, late-season request to face another title-holding franchise in the Midwest, the Indianapolis Tornados. Kickoff will commence Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. as the Tornados provide their pre-game entertainment for Fan Appreciation Night.

The Seminoles have been to seven national championship games. In addition, they are the three-time Mid-Continental Football League champions, the three-time Mid-States Football League champions, and the three-time Michigan Football League champions. This “motor city” football club prides itself on being the best and playing the best, a reason why Jennings sought out the 2008 NAFL champion Tornados. Two storied franchises facing off for the first time should make for a great football game that fans will not want to miss.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Tornados won the North American Football League championship in 2008, the largest minor league football organization in the country. Players from top colleges joined the Tornados for a shot at professional aspirations. For more information about the team and organization log on to www.indianapolistornados.com. The next home game of the season is September 25 at Park Tudor. That evening will be Fan Appreciation Night, and the last Tornados’ game of the 2010 North American Football League season. Indianapolis is hoping to make the NAFL playoffs, with a current record of 8-2 (8-1 in the NAFL). A win over Detroit would definitely “seal the deal” for the Tornados. With a strong post-season berth, the squad hopes to win its second NAFL championship in three years.

The players are not the only ones feeling the excitement. Fan Appreciation Night will consist of multiples prize giveaways for dedicated supporters of the team; such as a $100 gift certificate from Master Jewelers, a 32-inch, flat-screen television from Northwestern Mutual, $250 in IT Services from Veteran's Computer Solutions, and a $250 scholarship from Indiana College Choice Plan to name just a few.

Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock will be conducting the game’s opening coin toss. At halftime, Twister the Kat-5 Tornado and his mascot buddies will be battling it out with youth fans in a game of touch football. It looks to be a fun-filled evening for fans of all ages. Wolverines exited the field of Park Tudor School and departed for their homes in the “windy city” with another disappointing loss to dwell on for the four hour car ride. The Tornados were victorious in the closely fought battle, ending with a 22-21 final score.

Brandon Williams had two touchdown passes for the Tornados, one of which was for 80 yards. In addition, Luther Baker returned a fumble for a 25-yard score.

The victory coincided with the Tornados’ “Back to School Night,” an evening themed around the beginning of the 2010 school year. The Indianapolis staff worked on numerous contests for the student fans involved with Tornados football; including the young scholars of elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and even those of Indianapolis-based universities.

Tornados’ Master of Ceremonies Scott Evans proved to be more than a man behind the microphone Saturday night. His non-profit organization Fight the Wackness Now, a group dedicated to helping young men and women reach their goals in spite of adversity, was the evening’s charity sponsor. Several fan contests for the night were in conjunction with this group’s cause.

The Indianapolis Tornados will be having their last home game of the season on Saturday, September 25. The team will be hosting “Fan Appreciation Night,” to express their gratitude to the Tornados who show their support from the bleachers each week. Numerous giveaway prizes will be rewarded to those in attendance.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Indianapolis Tornados fought off the 2009 division champion Wolves (4-1) with a 34-11 final score, extending their record to 5-2. Turnovers were a problem for Traverse City, as they racked up four fumbles and one interception.

Tony West had a 4-yard run in the first quarter to give the Tornados their first offensive strike of the game. In the second quarter, West struck again with a 15-yard carry into the end zone. Chad Rollins had a 27-yard field goal and later a 25-yard field goal set up by a fumble recovered by Carlton Summler. The Tornados went into halftime with a 20-3 lead.

West added another touchdown carry to his already stellar performance for the night, this time an 80-yard run in the fourth quarter. Luther Baker returned a fumble for another Tornados’ touchdown, giving the team their final score of the evening. A scoring strike by the Wolves with 46 seconds left in the game proved to be a valiant, but late effort, finalizing a 34-11 score.

The Tornados will be traveling this Saturday, August 21, to the “windy city.” There they will face off against the Chicago Wolverines for the second time this season. Whew, a mouthful, but we will break it down.

The Tornados are a group of individuals who have come together to achieve a goal. That goal of this 2008 National American Football League (NAFL) championship team is to repeat as 2010 champs of the NAFL. The teamwork shown by these dedicated men started long before the season's first game on June 12, 2010. Workouts, both individually and collectively brought this team together with a chemistry that is evident on the field of play. From the coaching staff, to the players, to the interns and volunteers, the Tornado family works individually as a collective team. Taking a note from the MW definition, one can readily see on the field where teamwork and cooperation have aided in the "efficiency of the whole" portion of that definition.

That said, there is another team that is as effective as the men playing on the field. And that is our Tornado fan base. This team has played in several cities around the mid-west over the past few years and no fans are as into the game as our fan base here in Indianapolis. Yes, you the fan, are an integral part of the success of the Tornados. The players, who play without pay are as dedicated as any athlete who may be playing for pay. The injuries that the average fan never witnesses; the workouts, the time away from family and friends are a true testament to the spirit that has been instilled into every Tornado player, coach and person connected to the organization.

In short the Tornados would like to extend an open invitation to come on out to cheer the team on. Make home field advantage truly mean something to these devoted and hard working players. Home field should mean something. Road games are difficult enough; driving a few hours to a game, playing, then driving or riding back home. Home field means that those cheers from you the fan are, in essence, an appreciation for the hard work than has been put into the ultimate product that hits the field. So, tell a friend, to tell a friend, to tell a friend that the Tornado goal for 2010, after all the hard work and sacrifice, is to be crowned 2010 champions of the NAFL. The Indianapolis Tornados held the lead in the fourth quarter to seal a 14-12 victory over the Chicago Wolverines on July 31. The Wolverines will have their shot at redemption later on in the North American Football League season when they face the Tornados on August 21.

On Saturday, the Tornados had two touchdown scores, which was just enough to give them the win. Quarterback Ean Decker had a 25-yard touchdown pass to receiver Glenn Ayro while Mike Perkins had a 1-yard run into the end zone.

Later in the game, the Wolverines had a touchdown, followed by a failed 2-point conversion. Around the 2:00 mark of the fourth quarter, the Wolverines scored again, bringing their squad back into the game and giving them a chance to tie with another 2-point attempt. However, the Tornados’ defense pulled through with a clutch effort. The Wolverines failed both extra-point conversions, allowing the Tornados to have their fourth victory this season.

Kick-off this past Saturday began at 5:30 p.m., and the temperature at the time exceeded 95-degrees Fahrenheit. Players on both squads were exhausted, thirsty, and uncomfortable, but no one fell victim to heat-related illnesses.

The Tornados struck early in the game. Mike Perkins had a 1-yard run in the red zone to put Indianapolis ahead 7-0 with 7:25 remaining in the first quarter. Later in the quarter, Luther Baker picked off an interception, followed shortly by a 16-yard toss from Ean Decker to Glenn Ayro for another Tornados’ touchdown. Terry Moore had an interception of his own that he returned for 80 yards, giving the Tornados a 21-0 lead at the 3:11 mark of the first quarter.

The Tornados struck only once in the second quarter. Tony West had an impressive 60-yard run, giving Indianapolis a “cushioned” score of 28-0 at halftime. In the second half, Tornado Grant Grey had a fumble recovery in the endzone for yet another Tornados’ touchdown.

It was a case of “too little, too late” for the Saints. After eight previous turnovers, the Saints scored a late touchdown with 25.3 seconds left in the game, but the damage had already been done.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. Kick-off starts at 7:30 p.m. This weekend will mark the second time the Tornados face the Saints during an NAFL season. In last year’s matchup, the Tornados outgunned the Saints in a 41-18 victory. For the 2010 season, the Tornados organization hopes to repeat its success. However, team president Evan Triggs knows that the Saints will not go down without leaving everything they have on the gridiron.

“Our goal is to get a little better every week. Our approach to this game is no different than any other game. When we play Tornados football, execute, and win the turnover battle, we give ourselves a chance to win,” Triggs said. “Louisville is a very skilled opponent. We defeated them last year, even though we were out-gained in total offense. They've got explosive talent on both sides of the ball and should be a good test for our team, especially on the road.”

The Tornados hope to pull out a road victory this weekend, giving them some momentum leading into their next home game on July 31. The Tornados are currently undefeated (1-0) on their home field at Park Tudor School, located on College Avenue. Kick-off for that matchup, against another NAFL opponent, is at 7 p.m.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Tornados won the North American Football League championship in 2008, the largest minor league football organization in the country. The uncontested victory on Saturday was the Tornados’ first win of the 2010 North American Football League season.

The first quarter ended scoreless, but the Tornados regrouped for the second, putting 21 points on the board. Ean Decker made a 25-yard pass to Kevin Jackson for the game’s first touchdown. Decker later hit receiver Glenn Ayro with a 23-yard pass for a score. The Tornados were strong on the defensive end as well. Steve Wilson had a 45-yard interception return for a Tornados touchdown to end the half. Maurice Magee had a touchdown reception in the third quarter while Phil Axton caught a 6-yard pass in the fourth to seal the victory.

The action did not take place solely on the field. The Tornados had entertainment provided by recording artist Lynda Sayah and Indiana Pacers MC Scott Evans. In addition, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard conducted the opening coin toss. Children of the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization had the privilege of kicking field goals during halftime while Mayor Ballard addressed the crowd. Tornados General Manager David Seiter was pleased with the evening’s result.

“For Saturday’s game, our organization printed off hundreds of fly swatters to give away to fans, thanks in large part to the generosity of our sponsors. The fan involvement with our swatter giveaway was great and we came out with a victory, making us the top NAFL team in Indianapolis,” Seiter said. “We came out and played aggressive football, leaving the Yellow Jackets scoreless. The fly swatters proved to be an appropriate exclamation point.”

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Tornados won the North American Football League championship in 2008, the largest minor league football organization in the country. A black panther, answering to the name “Twister” and wearing the number “Kat-5,” will be the newest addition to the Tornados organization. Tornados management looked at several options before deciding on Twister’s costume.

“We looked at several costumes including one that was literally a ‘Tornado,’ but we weren’t satisfied with quality,” explained Tornados General Manager David Seiter. “The black cat ties in with the Park Tudor logos on the field, and by using the moniker ‘Kat-5’ we can play off the animal and the term used for Category-5 tornados.”

The Tornados play all of their home games at Park Tudor School, located at 71st and College Ave. Twister, the Kat-5 Tornado will be the leader of the kids club and Tornado Alley, an opening segment of all home games designed for the youth fans.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The clinic is $10 per child, and in return young ladies will receive personal dance instruction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m. Girls must be between the ages of 5 and 18 to participate.

The clinic will consist of a dance session in which the Lady Syrens will teach choreography, followed by a performance for the viewing pleasure of both parents and friends. After the performance, young ladies will be rewarded for their efforts with a certificate, a gift bag, and a ticket to the Tornados game later that evening. The young dancers will be invited onto the field to take a group photo with their Lady Syren dance instructors.

Summer Burks, the Syrens’ dance coordinator, said that this event will be a lot of fun for the participating girls, and hopes to match the success of last year’s dance clinic.

“In our short time together, I hope that we will provide young ladies an opportunity to build confidence, increase group camaraderie, and instill within them a love for dance performance that will stay with them for the rest of their lives,” Burks said.

For further information on the clinic, contact Summer Burks at (317)518-3251, or Danyella Davis at (317)519-1186.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. Seiter replaced former GM Anthony Meriweather, who now serves as a division commissioner for the North American Football League, the minor league organization the Tornados play under.

Seiter, a U.S. Army Reserves member for over 22 years, has been actively involved with the game of football for quite some time. In addition to his role with the Tornados, Seiter has taken a football charity he developed in Iraq and applied it here for the betterment of the Indianapolis community.

“While serving in Iraq in 2003, I organized and administered ‘Operation Touchdown,’ a charitable event introducing Iraqi orphans to the sport of American football. Children were given merchandise donated by the Indianapolis Colts and many Indianapolis residents through care packages and spent the day at a clinic put on by U.S. soldiers,” Seiter explained. “After I returned from Iraq, I wanted to make my own community better. If I could set up a charity event in a combat zone, why couldn't I do it here?"

With the NFL’s blessing and playing off of the Indianapolis Colts’ two Super Bowl runs, Seiter has organized fundraising efforts for military based charities. Operation Touchdown II, an extension from Seiter’s Iraq project, raised money for the United Services Organization, while Operation Touchdown 2010 has received monetary donations to aid the Wounded Warrior Project. Both charities have raked in thousands of dollars due to his efforts.

In his time with the Tornados, Seiter has worked with numerous other charities; including Big Brothers Big Sisters Indianapolis, the Children's Bureau, the Martin Luther King Community Center, the Shepherd Community Center, the Jewish Community Center, Samaritan's Feet, Indiana Make a Wish Foundation, and Marlin Jackson's Fight for Life Foundation. Seiter hopes to work with many new organizations for the 2010 season. He will be appearing with the Tornados July 9 at Monument Circle as a celebrity scooper for the 2010 American Dairy Association’s Ice Cream Social.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Fire came out triumphant with a late score in the fourth quarter to pull out a 17-10 victory at home. That late score was the only time the Tornados trailed the Fire.

The Tornados struck first with a 27-yard field goal kicked by Vince Marietta in the first quarter, putting three points on the scoreboard. However, the Fire struck back with a field goal of their own, tying the game at the end of the quarter.

The second quarter included a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Quincy Adams to receiver Glenn Ayro. The Tornados went into halftime with a 10-3 lead.

The second half seemed not to favor Indianapolis. Two safeties, one due to a crucial penalty against the Tornados, and then a 53-yard field goal brought the Fire back into the game with 14:15 left in the fourth quarter.

With 4:53 left in the game, a touchdown and extra point conversion from the Fire gave Columbus the game. The Tornados were unable to put more points on the scoreboard following that mark.

Penalties were a problem for Indianapolis. The season opener will be against the Columbus Fire at Columbus, Ohio. Kickoff will take place at 6:45 p.m. at Reynoldsburg High School Stadium. In addition to the game, the Fire organization is hosting Family and Friends Night that evening.

According to team president Evan Triggs, the Tornados and Fire have some “bad blood” between them due to a rivalry sparked from previous seasons. The Tornados were beaten by the Columbus Fire in 2008, the same season that the Tornados went on to win the North American Football League championship. Head coach Jerry Senter remains optimistic, and believes a loss in Ohio will not happen again this season.

“Our pre season preparation was motivated and directed by the pledge from the players, coaching staff, and the entire Tornados family to once again become the national champions. We understand that this is a very daunting and difficult journey, but it's a journey we gladly take on,” Senter said. “The Columbus Fire team poses the first obstacle in our quest to reach the national championship, and as such we take no team for granted.”

Coach Senter is anticipating a terrific battle, one in which the fans will surely enjoy.

“We are prepared to play Tornados football and it should be an outstanding game,” Senter said. “We are ready to strap it up and get it on.”

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The event included a football camp, a community festival, and a football game all free to the general public. The scheduled components of the afternoon went according to plan, until severe weather conditions in the evening put a stop to the Tornados preseason game against the Indiana Generals.

The Tornados were leading the Generals 9-0 at the 2:00 mark of the first half, when strong gusts of wind and heavy clouds accompanied by lightning began to overshadow the Tech football stadium. Players cleared the field for a brief recess, hoping the weather would pass. However, emergency storm sirens rang in the distance forcing the officials to call off the game.

In spite of the weather, Tornados president Evan Triggs regarded the event as a success. The afternoon football camp had players from both the Tornados and the Generals’ roster teaching kids the fundamentals of the game. During this on-field activity, community vendors provided adults with general information about local businesses and non-profit organizations. The vendors included chiropractor Nick Ring, Diamonds and Pearls, the Indiana Generals, Mary Kay consultants, and Ardyss Associates. Local music acts came out to perform, such as the acoustic guitar band Finer, rapper DJ Serious Business, and hip-hop act It’s A Real Movement.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The network can be found at http://gamedaynetwork.ning.com/. The site includes pictures, video clips, player statistics, and general news on upcoming Tornados events.

All fans of the team can post individual fan pages, in which they will have access to a personal profile, a blog, and picture albums all for the purpose of promoting Tornados football. Tornados president Evan Triggs started the interactive website to keep more than the players and staff involved with events.

“The purpose of the gameday network is to allow fans and supporters to stay connected with the team. We want to know what you think, who you are, and what you like about us,” Triggs said. “We hope to make our fan experience greater by understanding their likes and dislikes. The network allows us to connect visually, informatively, and socially to enhance the game day experience.”

The gym celebrates its three year anniversary, but more importantly, Gold’s will be having its Indy Kickoff Fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. The day-long event will feature a yoga class fundraiser, a spinning class fundraiser, a blood drive, free blood pressure screenings, a raffle, food, drinks, and entertainment. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. with the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. Gold’s Gym is located at 8401 North Michigan Road.

The Gold’s Gym anniversary party will feature numerous celebrity appearances, including Ray Donaldson, a former Baltimore Colt, Indianapolis Colt, Seattle Seahawk, and Dallas Cowboy. He was a six-time National Football League Pro Bowl selection and a Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys. Donaldson said that it’s hard to describe the excitement that fills you when your team is crowned Super Bowl champions.

“I only had two winning seasons in my 15 year career, and then I won one (Super Bowl) my first time around with Dallas,” Donaldson said. “It was like after a long, hard road I had finally arrived.”

A Georgia native, Donaldson was also inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. “I was Georgia born, Georgia bred, and when I die, I’ll be Georgia dead,” said Donaldson laughing.

With his family roots still grounded in Indianapolis, Donaldson returned to the “Hoosier State” when his pro-football career ended. He became a part owner of the Indianapolis Tornados minor league football team in 2002. Since then, the Tornados have fallen under new management, and Donaldson decided to stay on the staff as a coach for the team. He referred to it as his “second time around with the Tornados.” Donaldson gets enjoyment out of being a coach, but he said that nothing compares to the on-field experience he had in the NFL.

“Nothing matches that excitement and adrenaline rush, but at the same time I feel that accomplishment of getting through to the players and seeing their improvement on the field because of my coaching,” Donaldson said.

Donaldson will be present at the anniversary party representing the Tornados and signing autographs for the fans, along with numerous players of the organization.

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. This day-long venue will be held at Arsenal Technical High School and will be completely free to the public.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with the youth football camp. The camp’s instruction will come from Tornados players, and it is intended to help kids of middle school ages better understand football fundamentals. That event lasts until 2 p.m. At noon, the community festival begins which features information booths from local businesses, food, drinks, games, giveaway prizes, and an inflatable obstacle course. The community festival will end at 4 p.m. The day ends with the Tornados facing off in preseason action against the Indiana Generals. Kickoff starts at 7 p.m.

Champions of Change Community Day was created for the purpose of displaying a commitment to the Indianapolis community and all of its partnering businesses. Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hoosier Healthwise, Indianapolis Public Schools, Red Cross, IFD, Shepherd Center, KidsBMV, Marion County Health Department, Boys and Girls Club, and Girl Scouts are just a few of the organizations that will be participating on June 12. Team president Evan Triggs has said on numerous occasions that he values the work done off the field more so than any success on the field, including the 2008 league championship.

“We've adopted the name "Champions of Change" due to our commitment to serving the community through charity events and philanthropic efforts. Our goal is to not only be champions on the field of play, but to be champions in the heart of the community as well,” Triggs said. “We've literally changed the lives of people whom we've come in contact with, even some of the players on team have witnessed these positive changes in their own life. As long as I’m the president of the organization, we will continue to be a positive entity for the Indianapolis community through events like this and fun, affordable football.”

The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community.
