INDIANAPOLIS- A “ real nail-biter” of a game took place this past Saturday at Park Tudor School’s football stadium. The Indianapolis Tornados held the lead in the fourth quarter to seal a 14-12 victory over the Chicago Wolverines on July 31. The Wolverines will have their shot at redemption later on in the North American Football League season when they face the Tornados on August 21.
On Saturday, the Tornados had two touchdown scores, which was just enough to give them the win. Quarterback Ean Decker had a 25-yard touchdown pass to receiver Glenn Ayro while Mike Perkins had a 1-yard run into the end zone.
Later in the game, the Wolverines had a touchdown, followed by a failed 2-point conversion. Around the 2:00 mark of the fourth quarter, the Wolverines scored again, bringing their squad back into the game and giving them a chance to tie with another 2-point attempt. However, the Tornados’ defense pulled through with a clutch effort. The Wolverines failed both extra-point conversions, allowing the Tornados to have their fourth victory this season.
The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Tornados won the North American Football League championship in 2008, the largest minor league football organization in the country. Players from top colleges joined the Tornados for a shot at professional aspirations. For more information about the team and organization log on to www.indianapolistornados.com. The next home game of the season is August 7 at Park Tudor. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.
