For release- June 24, 2010
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indianapolis Tornados minor league football team has brought in a new mascot for the 2010 season. A black panther, answering to the name “Twister” and wearing the number “Kat-5,” will be the newest addition to the Tornados organization. Tornados management looked at several options before deciding on Twister’s costume.
“We looked at several costumes including one that was literally a ‘Tornado,’ but we weren’t satisfied with quality,” explained Tornados General Manager David Seiter. “The black cat ties in with the Park Tudor logos on the field, and by using the moniker ‘Kat-5’ we can play off the animal and the term used for Category-5 tornados.”
The Tornados play all of their home games at Park Tudor School, located at 71st and College Ave. Twister, the Kat-5 Tornado will be the leader of the kids club and Tornado Alley, an opening segment of all home games designed for the youth fans.
The Indianapolis Tornados are a minor league football team with a rich history and an intense commitment to the community. The Tornados won the North American Football League championship in 2008, the largest minor league football organization in the country. Players from top colleges joined the Tornados for a shot at professional aspirations. For more information about the team and organization log on to www.indianapolistornados.com.
